| Kenny Martin - Bass/Vocals |
| Kenneth Allen Martin - as the bass player/harmonica/vocals - born 9/23/59 in Paducah, Kentucky to a solid "church going" family who loved music. At 5 years old I saw my cousin playing guitar and singing folk songs. I wanted to do this. I got my first guitar, a Woolworths Special, however the neck was so big I couldn't get my hand around it. In 1969, Jesus Christ came into my life when I accepted him as my personal savior. My love of music brought me to playing horns in school and choir, singing at church. In my late teens I got serious about the guitar after I realized that no one wanted a tuba player in a "rock and roll" band. In 1978, I bought my first bass guitar (a Kay). At college, my friend John Anglin and I played our first show at a campus coffee shop. I wanted to do this all the time and dropped out of college. From then on it was a life of playing music for me. It was a great time for music. All the "punk" and "new wave" were around. I loved the high energy and rebellious spirit of this music. After several tries in 1981, after meeting Jay Grace and Wheeler Underwood, I finally had my own band. The years to follow saw a few changes and line ups but we always stayed true to being and writing original. In the mid 80's I met my wife Rhonda, and in 1988 we were married. In 1989, I got an offer to join a band in Louisville, KY, called Mrs. Frazier. It was a hard decision because it meant the end of my other band "Signal Thirty". The big city sounded exciting so we took off. We played a lot all around the Midwest, even opened for some bands too famous to mention. After spending some time in Nashville, trying to break into the music scene, we ended up back in Paducah, spending the rest of the century playing and writing. In 1997, my daughter Lydia was born and we got back into church where I discovered "Christian music". I was truly back home. I started playing bass for our "church based" group and loved it. Late in 2003, Jeff Whitthorne and pastor Jerry Brewer had some ideas for a New Year's Eve show. Tim, Dan and Terry came along, with Michael running sound, and Psalm 98:4 was born. Now I know I am doing what God wants me to do. Thank you, Lord, for this long, strange trip back to You! I love these guys and it is an honor to be with them! My bands over the years: The voices, The Wate, Mega Boys, Eye Balls In A Row, Drooling Idiots, Signal Thirty, Mimes With Knives, Mrs. Frazier, Minnow Forrest, Steel Belted Radicals, The Transcenders, Ike Brothers Blues Band, The Wheelers, Cumberland Valley Boys, Psalm 98:4 Thank you and good night, Kenny |
